If you paid less than $200, it's a normal.

Lets try $500.00 and he said it should have been $1200.00 but it was a trade-in so he only charged me what he paid. Any ideas how to post pics?

Go to the picture gallery, upload the pic to your space here (you get 1meg), then copy the url of the picture into the IMG field. That shoudl do it.
Who did you get the ball from? I don't know ANY knowledgable breeders that would sell an axanthic for $500. But if you got one, nice snag! :)

Xanthic (T+ Albino, Caramel Albino) or axanthic? Big difference, about $15000...
Either way though, if you paid $500, you probably have a REALLY expensive normal. Sorry.

I was thinking maybe it was a calico ball python, because the white patches/scales are only present in the gold portion of the pattern, not the black or dark brown portion

That's way better lookin' than my normals but I don't believe that it is xanthic.
Here is a T+ albino (xanthic) picture linked from NERD's website.

Sorry man... 3 normals. :)
But that 800g female is NICE! :)
I would call that guy you got the "xanthic" off of and ask for $350 back. Seriosly.

You could always post about your experience on the Canadian Board of Inquiry, here:

It's a place to discuss both good and bad transactions in the reptile hobby.
Good luck :(
That 800 Gram female looks awefully familiar.. Who did you pick her up from???
Correct me if im wrong, but this is the same snake right?? ;)

I picked her and the male up from port credit about 8 months back another $500.00 I spent on the pair. Good deal?
Yeah, that reduced female came from me. :D That doesn't make her worth anymore or less, I hope.. As far as the price, snakes are worth what you're willing to pay for them in my mind..
I just checked out the pic of the male.. That was also one of my snakes.. :D

Ha that's funny, so she is a normal with a reduced pattern. Is she worth breeding to anything special?
CamHanna

I'd pay $500 for that pair... if I had $500.

Where were all you guys when I had them posted on here a while back??? LOL

I was hoping for some good news from you, Matt, maybe that they were Het something! LOL Anyways I really like both the male and female, they were my first ball pythons and have been a pleasure.

How is a reduced pattern produced? Is it line bred or a reproducable mutation? Pretty cool either way.
LOL, they're het for amazing!! Feel better?? They're both beautiful normals either way you look at it.. That female is outstanding and never missed a meal while in my care.. It was hard to part with her but I had no choice at the time. Im glad they both ended up with someone who's taking good care of them though.. Keep us updated on that female, i'd love to see how she matures.. :D
I'm suprised no one mentioned the possibility that it could have been Het for Xanthic thus the normal apearance and lower price.

I have just never seen a ball python with so much yellow/brown missing in the pattern I thought for sure it was something? I asked if he meant het for xanthic but he said no it was 100% zanthic and if I bread him to an albino I should get some snows, but I don't think so anymore.

Maybe this is a better pic, don't mind the small cage, it is only temp, I didn't want to introduce him to the other balls just yet.New Pic (http://www.reptiforum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1172)

Well, even IF the snake IS "xanthic" (which is the wrong term... should be <b>A</b>xanthic), and you bred it to an albino, you would not get snows. You would get double hets that look normal.
You should call this guy and try to clear some of this up with him. If he DID scam you, post about it on the BOI that was linked earlier.

I am going to talk to him first and see what he is going to do before I post anything just yet, got to give him a chance.
the first one is most likely normal unless you can prove it out. it definitely has some really cool stuff going on with the pattern though and would be worth breeding out. that 800 gram reduced pattern female IMO shouldnt be refered to as normal beacause that is a ridiculously nice animal:D, and the last one also appears to be normal but yeah its entirely possible that theyre het for axanthic. good luck with them and DAMN that female is sweet!!! if i had her id try to find a really nice reduced pattern/banded male to breed her with and see what happens.
just my .02:)

I agree with munchy! Shes a awesome snake and I would breed her with a banded!
Your 800g female would be a nice match for osiris, my male!! LOL, his pic is my avatar and they would produce some beautiful babies. Too bad we are so far away. She is beautiful!! Where was i when you were selling her Matt!! I would have snatched her up!

From the pic shown, you got ripped off..... I dispise people selling normals as a morph, and axanthics seem to be the biggest one to do it with.
Please update us as to if the guy is going to give you most of your money back or explain himself!
Jessy
Not an xanthic, or an axanthic. Nice normals nonetheless. Good luck with them.

I'm very happy for you! :) Take that $500 and invest it in an honest breeder's stock and you'll be VERY happy with what you get. :)
you still have that nice female????

What do you mean by "introduce him to the other balls". Are you keeping them housed together in the same enclosure?
