I was looking at my snake today when it was climbing around and I noticed it had an indent in its tail. I asked my dad if he knew anything and he said that he "accidently" caught the snakes tail in the hood of the tank. The Indent looks quite deep, no cuts in it, its about Inch and a half up from the bottom of the baby snake. It looks alert and it currently does not seem to bother it. Is the snake going to be okay??? O.O

it most likely has broken bones. corns are known to be really hardy. if you let it be it might just grow up with a kink in the tail. im not sure if u NEED to go to the vet for this, the experts will know what you shoulds do...

Depending on how deep the bruise was it may leave a permanent kink in the tail or may completel recover. If it was very severe it could result in loss of the tail tip. Regardless - there is nothing you can do that will change the outcome. The next week or so will likely give you a good idea of how well it is going to heal - I would just avoid handling him for a week or so - there is so much temptation to just keep checking it - and no need to keep manipulating it - especially if there is bone damage - give it a chance to start healing. Most of these 'pinch' injuries heal with no problems.

Sounds like it is around or even above the vent area? If it is above the vent I'd be more concerned as it may have internal injuries to its digestive system. Are you using an old Aquarium Hood as a lid? Not the best idea, I'd suggest a proper screen lid instead. I state this because I read your posts on how the same snake has already been caught up in packing tape that was used to block holes, hold temp probes etc. & also how its been very nervous in reguards to feeding etc. I'd suggest a proper setup instead of "mickey mousing" what ya have already & very little interaction for a while as this little snake is probably stressed like crazy from its bad experiences/injuries so far. Remember this is just a young baby & has had more than its fair share of stress already. Keep an eye on it & as you have already inquired a Vet may not be a bad idea in the near future if the snake appears to be having complications deficating or otherwise as a result of its most recent injury, Good Luck Mark

The snake seems fine today, the injury is barely noticable. I've been thinking about getting a mesh hood but the snakes cage is located in my basement and it can get quite cold down here, I think I'll design something new. anyways despite the two complications that have happened in this snakes life I think Its going to be okay as it is quite alert. Im going to leave it be for the next couple of weeks to reduce stress.
