get a low wattage red bulb . 30 watts or less, or you might start heating too much.
I have seen blue "moon glow" bulbs but I dont really trust that they dont produce any disturbing wavelenghts.

I have also heard cathode bulbs work, but i hve never see one in use for cresteds. apparently thy emit the same sort of light as a computer monitor.

I have a low wattage regular incandesant buld on a table lamp that I keep on the otehr side of the room. my cresties still come out around 9 pm like clockwork when only that is on.

hope this helps,
Adam

I never see mine move during the day unless I take him out, which I rarely do. Some of mine will eat right away once I drop the crickets in but one of em tends to be shy. He'll just sit there till you leave and then eat. Unless he doesn't notice you but that's hard. I do catch him eating his fruit tho and he doesn't stop. You can buy a infrared light or a night blue light from exo-terra. I use the night blue one sometimes. It's still a bit dark but hey, better then nothing. Just make sure the heat from the light doesn't heat up their enclosure too much. Buy the lowest wattage you can and keep it on for a short period if you want to see him eat.

Hey adam do your cresteds move around during the day?I swear i never see this guy move!I thought he had a eating disorder until i talked to Anthony Capetto of www.acreptiles.com (where im getting 2 of my 3 new additions) and he said a cresteds stomach is about the size of half a pea, and usually itll only take a couple of licks to fill the little guy up on baby food.I was pretty worried till i heard that ...so ive heard of the moon glow bulb what kind of disturbing wavelengths do you think it could posess?Could it possibly harm my cresteds?

Like you said, they're nocturnal so its highly unlikely that you'll see them moving around during the day. You can but a blue or red exoterra light, I think they actually come in 10W bulbs too but I could be wrong, the only thing here is make sure it doesn't overheat your cresties. I have found that some cresties will eat in your presence while others will not, its all up to the individual.

no harm I dont think, just might make them think it is never night, so theyll move less!

mine do move during hte day from one hiding spot to another. I think it is hte crested version of rolling over in their sleep.

I think ptindy explained better than I did. check out that reply above

I have used the exoterra moonlight bulbs in the past and I never noticed a change in their behaviour. The behave in the same way as if the lights were off.

reptiguy, i feed my geckos every other day...usually 3 cricket meals , then 1 baby food meal. and every 2 weeks i supplement with vitamins....babies i feed about 5 days a week and do the same thing with the crickets and baby food as i explained earlier....CGD is not a necessity...
