I noticed a "dent" in my 4 month old boa constrictor's right eye. I've heard before that this is caused by low humidity or dehydration. The humidity is right around 50% and I have witnessed him drinking. Any suggestions as to how i could solve this little problem. Any similar experiences out there? Thanks........chris

I've seen this many times, in many species often when getting close to a shed. Try and get the humidity up a little, maybe a tub big enough for the snake to soak in. Chances are it will be gone after the next shed cycle.

It would'nt hurt to raise the humidity, does the snake have a tub to soak in if it wants? See if you can find someone nearby with some experience to have a look at your snake. He may just have an eyecap stuck which will need to be removed.

i checked his shed skin and both eyecaps were there, i'm in the process of raising the humidity to 65-70% We'll see what happens..........chris

Chris was both eyecaps there in one piece?
Also do you have anything in the terrarium that might of caused this?

Make sure that the snake has ALWAYS a dry spot in the terrarium.
Otherwise you can get skin-problems.
I wouldn't worry to much about it when the snake eats and reacts normally. Often such things dissapear after a while.
The suggestion of a tub big enough for the snake is a golden one!
Boa's like to bath and when you are lucky it will put it faeces in it. Keeps your terrarium clean!
