I was wondering, would a Leopard Gecko rather live alone or with other Leopards. I know that a trio of 1.3 is best because the whole male thing but my question is not about what works best but simply would a Leopard Geckos rather have a friend or two or live alone or not care lol.

I know snakes would rather live alone and this is why I ask. I have one Leopard now and was thinking of another or possibly a trio but this would be a while down the road unless my Leo is unhappy by itself I will buy it some friends sooner and this is the main reason I ask..

In short do Leopard Geckos live together in the wild and would one Leopard Geckos living in captivity by itself become bored and want some company.

Leos are gregarious in nature. Maybe not their whole lives and maybe not in certain seasons. Most lizards are gregarious at certain points of the year.

Leos do not need a friend. They are not super social. Fighting can occur ( any sex), breeding, some times breeding too younge, Female loses years off of life from breeding, ect... At a older adult age (2 years) and your leo is female maybey get a female friend, or a male friend if you are ready to breed and house eachother in diffferent enclosures just incase, as well after breeding.

I have heard/read several times that leos can be found in pairs and small groups in the wild. In my opinion, my leos appear happier when kept with company (and of course, an adequate amount of hiding places). Leos kept in groups will often sleep together, even when multiple hides are available. Some may argue that this is simply because the leos want to congregate where the heat (UTH or light) is. To some extent I believe that is a factor as well.

In the summer I typically offer no additional heating other than room temps, and maybe a red light at night. I still observe the same behaviours.

Too bad we can't ask them, right?
