View Full Version : Any good books on my spider?
I purchased this spider from my local petstore about a month ago. It seems to be doing real well. I was wondering since im going to go purchase some books on my snake if anyone recommends any good books on my spider too. I think the name of my spider is a Goliath Bird Eater. That is a Theraphosa Blondi, commonly known as the Goliath Bird Eater. You won't find a book on one particular species, rather, either tarantulas as a whole, or certain genus'. Pretty much just give him/her deep substrate, 75-85% humidity, fresh water and food every week. GBE's have quite an appetite.

Is there any problem with keeping live crickets in with the spider? I seriously dont want to run into the same problem I had with my snake.

Well, what most arachnohobbyists will do is throw in a few crickets at a time, then clean out any that are still alive a few hours later.
Unless they are moulting, crickets should pose no threat (speaking in terms of adult spiders).

Hey Hexis,
That looks like an adult male goliath and probably wont live long since its a male. Also, for food, i think it might be a little to big for crickets, if i were you id skip to fuzzy mice or roaches.
Thanks,
Ben
