i'm starting to get boaphile plastic cages for 4 of my snakes. i got my first and biggest cage for my 5 foot bci. i have always used newspaper in the other cages so i put news paper in the boaphile and soon it was crumpled and piled up all over the cage.

the bottom of the cage must be so smooth when she crawls around the newspaper crawls with her. i took it out sence the bottom was bairly being coverd. right now theres nothing in there, if she were to go to the bathroom it would be quite easy to clean up but the cage is pretty ugly with no substrate.

i think i want to do that cage carpet stuff or something like it. i dont want anything loose though, any one have any ideas?

Check out this stuff, it all it is is corrugated cardboard, i have thought about ordering some, but never got around to it, it looks like it would be good to use, and you could just have it all precut to go in when you throw your old one away.

You can also try using flannel sheets. My boas tend to smash paper up unless I lay it out a certain way. I have to use the two piles, one for each side of the cage, and where they overlap, I put their big ceramic dog dish to hold it in place. It also helps to give a light sprinkling of water to help secure it temporarily, and in some cases, crumpling up a 'top sheet' for them to hide under will definitely discourage them from digging up the bottom.
