View Full Version : New cresty question...
I just got my first Crested Gecko at the TARAS show last weekend. It's a beautiful juvinile female (we're 90% certain of the sex), and is currently living in the same tank as my boyfriend's Cresty (we're also 90% sure his is female). Anyways, my gecko seems to be having trouble climbing. She can't seem to climb the walls of the rubbermade. She'll try, and just slide down...very strange. My boyfriend's gecko has no problem climbing at all. I'm just wondering if this is any cause for concern, or if anyone has reasoning behind it? Thanks so much guys.
And yes, we have looked at his feet and there is no shed skin still adhered to them. She seems to be able to climb my finger alright and any other item with a bit of texture. Just plastic walls seem to be a problem. Anyone?

It could just be the plastic...
If she sticks to your fingers fine, I don't think there'd be any cause for alarm :)
I agree Heather - it's just strange because Mike's gecko has no problem at all scaling the walls.
Thats what I was thinking ?Heather?. The other gecko in the enclosure can stick to the plastic thought and so could my male that I kept in it for a brief period of time. Thats the only thing that makes me think about it twice. Thanks.

Hmm. Not too sure guys. Is there anything else wrong with her? Weakness in the limbs, is she floppy-looking, etc...it could be a deficiency, I had a gecko that never climbed and that turned out to be the problem.
It could also just be temporary. :)
Not at all, she's a fair size and will run after her crickets. I hope it's only temporary.

I wouldn't worry about it Pytyck and Pytycks girlfriend she might be going into shed. Its pretty hard to tell with some cresties.
Thanks Andy, I sure hope so.

Andy, it turns out you were right! When Mike and I got up this morning and went to clean her tank, she was pulling off the remainder of her shed. She also had NO problem climbing the plastic walls, which was awesome to see. Thank so much for the advice.
