View Full Version : They're here!!!
Woke up at 5:30 and turned my light on only to find a foggy cage full of babies! I was having a hard time counting, but I *think* there are 23 babies and one still. They look like a mix between the two parents. A lot of them show similar abberant pattern like their father, so perhaps it is genetic? Either way, YAY BABIES! :D

BTW: The stillborn pic is the same as the first one.
Hahaha yeah, guess I'm too excited to pay attention to what I'm doing :p
Oops! I replied at the same time you were :p So.... edit: I introduced them later than people typically do, as my female still wasn't ready weight-wise (she's more than old enough at 8 years old). They were first introduced in January and were together until a while after she ovulated on May 19th. Yes, the parents were both sold to me as 'guyanese' bcc. LOL only reason I'm up at 5:30 is because that's when Mike leaves for work. I usually go back to bed for a bit after he leaves :p

Thank for all the comments! Well, the count seems to go up everytime I try to count :p It's looking like 25 live little babies. I can't wait to seperate them and get a final count and get a good look at each of them. There are a few really interesting tail patterns in there. Soon as they finish up with their yolk sacks I'll seperate them and snap some individual pics

Very nice babies, Linds! Are they Guyanans? Just a stab in the dark, they just don't look like Colombians to me. That male is just incredible, I would be interested in seeing some shots of the individual babies with unusual markings once they've shed and settled of course.
Late September birth sounds unusual, am I wrong about that? Of course waking up at 5:30 is hard for me to comprehend too so... I wake up at 7 these days and usually cry in self-pity until quarter to 8. lol!

Thanks again everyone! Final count is in at 26 perfect babies and one stillborn. Soon as they have their first shed I will put pics up. They have a lot pink already and all have sweet patterns and tails.
Don,
Thanks! Yup, that's the little female I picked up from John. The babies should finish up a nice size, my male is just barely 6'. LOL... I started thinking she wasn't gonna drop much of anything. She seemed to progressivly shrink down to where she almost looked normal. I can't believe all those little babies popped out of her :p

AWESOME true red tails!!!! What a site! :jawdrop:
Thanks for all the comments! I'd really love to hold a few back, there are a few that look a lot like their dad, but I don't think it is feasible at present due to space constraints... :( Hopefully they have more litters in the future so I can indeed continue the project further. I would love to produce pink, fully striped boas one day.

Sweet Linds!! That's awesome, congrats :D -- you've been waiting forever for those babies to pop out, so cool to see that it's finally happened! :) Looks like there's quite a few lookers in there from that group shot -- can't wait to see some individual pics! I think I might have to start saving my pennies for when these guys are all shed and eating and ready for new homes ;)
Congrats again!

Congrats Linds they look awesome it is your first time breeding boa??
bye Sebas
Yup, this is my first time breeding boa ssp. and succeeding. Not only did they produce something, but the litter size is impressive and they are all healthy, beautiful babies to boot! :D
At least half the litter, if not more, have some 'striping' to them. There is one that has an awesome tail, but no striping as well.
LOL btw I need to go back to elementary school. Matt was right on the nose when I said the final count was 27 + 1 still, that I should count and count again (this seems to happen a lot :o ), final count for real this time is 28 babies. I counted, counted, and counted again this morning and that's what I ended up with :p
Thanks guys! :D
Thanks for the kind words! Hahaha yeah for sure, it IS an AMAZING feeling :D
Congrats Linds thats AMAZING! Mr. Poopy Pants is by far my favorite BCC I have ever seen. If there are any that look like him left let me know... Congrats again it's been a long wait but well worth it.

WOW!!! Congrats on the beautiful baby boas. That's gotta be a REAL GOOD feeling.
More pics, more pics!!!!;)
They are *just* starting to go in to shed, so I will snap some afterwards. I did take a few pics though so...
This guy doesn't have any striping, but I think he's definitely one of my favourites. I just love his tail.

I want a bcc so badly. A bci would do me just as good but would be harder to get rid of if my future ever called for it. I try to stay away from species that can be difficult to sell.
Looking good Linds. Youre most recent post with the pics, the first one is AWESOME. HOW MUCH?

They are stunning!! Make sure you post some pics after they shed...:)
Thanks everyone! It's funny how I had no problem waiting out the 6 month gestation, hardly a thought to stick, but soon as the lil suckers were born it's all I can think about. I can't wait the couple more days until they shed so I can see what they look like... it's driving me nuts! :o
None of them are officially for sale yet, as soon as they shed I will be taking individual pics and pricing them out accordingly.
Let us know where you are posting this info Linds!
Keep an eye on the classifieds in the coming weeks ;)
Linds, you're right that tall on the one is really unique. Really cool...is it going to be a hold back?
I would love to hold back about 3 of them, but right now I don't think I will be holding back any. I just simply don't have the space, especially if I intend on producing babies from time to time. I'm not 100% sure though... lol... or maybe I'm just in denial? :p :o
