People are such a brilliant species! Theres too many of one species, so lets send another animal in to kill them. Of course, there will never be a problem with having to many cats... Excuse my rant, but we do this everywhere, mongooses in the Carribean and Hawaii, pics and goats, etc. The cane toad was brought all over the world to eat the cane beetle and increase sugar production, except for one slight problem. The cane beetle is diurnal and the cane toad is nocturnal! Whoops!

Dude, its mexico, the majority of these people dont have indoor plumbing, among other resources we take for granted. How far do you expect them to think it through? Give em a break. I think cats was kind of a cute logical idea myself. Scary that they actually need cat donations down there!
Edwin- that other headline coming in the future wouldnt surprise me, but that comment made me lol!

Maybe they should have a good look at the Feral Cat problems in a place such as Autrailia first as once its done it will be irreversable & very damaging to the habitat indeed, probably moreso than the Rats in the long run. Mark

I said it before...Jack Russells or other trained dogs will catch ten times more rats then a cat. A feral pack of Jack Russells.......that's the answer! :D TB

And then there will be the army against a big dog horde, what a shame!
Reminds me of the old lady who swallowed a fly.

ewww, fish tacos down there are scary enough... cat tacos sounds scarier still.. Paul, i dont know how many snakes you would need to deal with a half MILLION rats, breeding exponentially, but ill bet its a lot. Is there a big snake killing problem down there, too?
