Ok pretty soon here im going to be getting a farily decent amount of money that im going to be able to spend and get Echos cage setup to be prime for what he needs. What i dont know is specifics on what is the best to get.

Heres what i know so far

Tank
Lights
Heat
Water dish
2x Hides
Themometer/hydrometer

This is for a young (5-6 month) ball python. Im sure i could go to a pet store and get sufficent stuff but i would like your opinion on brands styles ect... so if you had the money what would you do to make a complete setup for your BP? Thanks in advance for those who help!

You really don't need allot of money to get everything a snake needs, $50 - $75 should be sufficent for setting up a new snake.

Cage: Rubbermaide = $20
Thermometer/hydrometer - $20 - $30 (Home depot has some good ones)
Water dish - just get a ziplock plastic dish you can get 5 for like $7 and any suppermarket
Hides - Anything dark, doesn't have to be expensive, I like PVC pipe cut in half because it's dark and small and gives a baby ball python exactly what it needs.

Most times with bigger cages you need to provide more hides and much more coverage because babay snakes can become stressed from an abundance of space. The smaller the cage the better almost, not too small obviously, but as long as you can provide a heat gradiant it should be fine. You already have an UTH so your covered there. Honeslty I would just leave him in the cage he is in because then your going to have to give your snake another week or 2 to be aclimitated to its new cage.

teracotta pot bottoms!!!!!!!!!!! (walmart $2-$4)
carefully smash out a section and file down the sharp parts! they are SO GREAT.

Also, dollerama is the bestest place for EVERYTHING (humid hides, hides, water dishes, spray bottles, etc, etc.)!!!

If you *must* get lights (*sigh*), do so but don't buy the expensive pet store ones. An UTH should be fine all on it's own though. I'd get a human heating pad, $20 from walmart.

And rubbermaid from walmart too.

So..... sounds like you don't need ANYTHING from the pet store, including the snake! Make sure to get that from a private breeder!

good luck!
