Hey all.
I'm about to start the research portion of a big expository essay project, and as a topic I chose PETA. I was wondering if anyone had any info, links, or ideas regarding PETA and their practices.
Please be aware that the essay is going to show PETA in a *negative* light.
I'm not asking anyone to do my research for me, it's just that some of the most damaging information about PETA that I've seen seems to come from the reptile community and forums...:D
Thanks all.
Heather, who's actually doing homework...haha.
*EDIT* If there's any information that's either 1) against the TOS of the site, or 2) will probably result in this being taken down, please PM it to me ;)

http://www.cdfe.org/peta-probe.htm
it has a few links to articles relating to investigations into PETA's possible criminal activities (I haven't read all of them, so I'm not sure how helpful they would be)
http://www.consumerfreedom.com/news_detail.cfm/headline/2151
http://www.the-aps.org/pa/action/news/peta.htm
those two are individual articles, pertaining to PETA terrorist involvment and tax responsibilities...they may be on the list in the previous link, but I'm not sure.
Hope it helps.

Thanks pigglet! Those were really factual, which was just what I needed.
If anyone wants a copy of the finished essay, let me know as it should be informative.
...I'd post it, but I don't think I can. :p
Heather
cool.. i thought it was pro-PETA and was gonna do a lil trash talking.. but you already knew better. ;) :p
i'd definitely be interested in reading your essay.
Heather, you should post your finished essayhere... but check with a Mod first to make sure it isn't going to be considered a liability or anything... I'd be very interested in reading it! =)
Once again, I should read all the replies before posting! Sorry! =)

don't you all have freedom of speech up there???
anyways, keep in mind that to present a legitimate and well regarded article you should investigate all matters of your topic and be sure to attempt to discover PETAs responses and explanations for the negative actions you make mention of
btw, I'm quite ANTI PETA

Yes, we do have freedom of speech. And we also have Civil Court...
You might have heard of it down there, it's the alternative to the lottery in the states :p
All freedom of speech does is give you the right to say something. A lawsuit can still be brought against you for defamation, slander or libel depending on the situation.
Though as long as everything is based on factual events and data, and opinions are indicated by sentences structured to show that they are indeed opinion (eg. "Based on my research, I have come to the opinion that PETA is...") then there's little to worry about :)

Penn and Teller's show, which would probably trigger the censorship script, did an expose on PETA. It's Season 2, episode 1.
There's enough name dropping in there to assist in research at least :)

Cruciform, that's what I thought....I was wondering why everyone was so afraid of saying stuff about pet stores, etc....why would you lie anyways? you'd think you'd only speak based on facts...oh well, some people's kids

Michael Moore should do an expose on PETA, and other known eco-terrorist organizations. Can you imagine how he could portray them??? Wow. The government would shut them all down immediately. :D

He'd probably start the film off with him eating a bucket of chicken at KFC.:D

Peta is nothing to me. Just a bunch of liars, scammers, hipocritical, over the top bunch of people who gang up on a certain object of interest and turn it in a huge deal. I have friends who are peta members. They prefer to stay away from the brain washed, money gropeing types of peta members.
