Ok I have read the care sheets and asked some questions on other boards but I still dont feel so sure. Here is my setup i'm going out and buying tomorrow and also how my setup will be:

Secure rubbermaid. Dunno size but bigger than 10gal I know
newspaper substate
1 hide box on cool side
1 humid hide over hotside *heat pad set to 88F*
shallow water bowl
small bowl for calcium/mineral supplement
will be feeding crickets and mealies

Now one thing I dont know yet is what calcium/mineral supplements should i be buying and how often to dust. Please just give me a name such as reptile cal or something so its not so confusing to me :p

Does this sound like a o.k setup for 1 male leopard gecko though? I'm just double checking because i'm sure someone will point something out to me that I did wrong or something i'm forgetting.

~ Thanks, Hooter

Some say to keep the humid hide on the warm side, some say on the cool side. I've done both, so the best advice I can say is try either one and see what works best for you. Other than that, I keep mine with a basking surface temp of 94 F , but again, I've heard variations of what people use as their hot side temps. The air temp is obviously lower than surface temp. The brand of supplements I use is Rep-cal and I use both their multivitamin and the calcium supplement (one blue the other pink label).

What else can I say, but enjoy your new leopard!

sounds good to me but why a male when you can keep more than one female together and females are easer to find

Thanks for the replies!!!

silent_truth, How often do you powder with both of the Rep-cal products you use. Sorry its just I want to know how often I should be powdering my crickets :o

paul vanhooser, I'm getting a male because I plan to get 2 more females down the road and setup a nice 3x2x1 cage for them to live in. Dont worry, i'll make sure the leopards are all the same size when adding to the 3x2x1 cage.

Again, Thanks :)

For any gecko younger than 6 months old, I dust the crickets 4 out of 5 feedings. Once my geckos start to get close to 8 months to a year old, I reduce the dusting to every second feeding.

I use Mineral I for my leopards. I keep it in a dish in the cage at all times.
