View Full Version : Heres my reason for keeping snakes!
This is my rock .. named Herpees - cause its something you don't want lol
I raised her from a neonate and 2 and a half years later .. here she is!
She just ate 3 rabbits .. 8 pounds or so each ..

To give you an idea of size .. the 1x1 stick to the left curtain is excacly 2 feet long..
Tx for looking!
Dom
Man what a beauty!
Can we see you hold it?? LOL ;)
lol I have pics of me holding her when she was under 20 pounds..
Except for that .. the only way she is moved is to throw a blanket over her and pin her and move her in a bin .. Of course your need one or two other ppl to remove the coils of you..
Last time I moved her was 6 month ago cause I needed to make a complete change of substrate and now.. I need to move her in 10 days .. (moving) .. Should be lots of fun.. Can't wait !

Beautiful snake. I just got my first Afrock and he's great. I just said this on my thread, but I think Afrocks have a really bright future in herpetoculture. There seems to be a growing interest in Afrocks, that reminds me of the way things were with Retics before the discovery of the Tigers. I can't wait till mine is bigger. Great animals.
Yea DOM!!! Take pics when you move that beauty :)
Document it all for everyone here :D
Would love to see it :D
That is one monster. Id love to keep such a huge snake but I just cant see myself being able to deal with a snake that big with an attitude. Sure is one big beauty though.

Very impressive Dom! I know Henry Piorun has a few young'uns for sale, but I don't have the room for a monster like that, so I will just admire yours for now. ;)

Hey dumb question but how do you guys change water and substrate with the giants who aren't exactly "happy campers" so to speak...Sounds pretty friggin tricky to me with a 14 foot plus retic or afrock who senses a warm hand it doesnt like too much comin into its cage!.....i dont even like it when my corn hisses at me lol
Theres two ways i do it .. Number one is simple .. to do it alone I set up a seperator in the middle of the cage.. a curtain that is on pulleys that opnens and closes fform te outside.. i wait for her to be on the right side close the curtain.. and change the water bowl ..
Solution two is.. Carefully lol With some one else is in the room if the snke is a potential threat..
I built the seperatror as i live alone and don't alwasy have a friend who knows what to do if u get constricted by a big snake..
Thanks for the compliments guys :)

Afrocks, like hots, are something that I love to admire, but wouldn't own. I could maybe handle a burm, even if my girlfriend couldn't, but an afrock is just something that I like to admire on the forums. So thanks for giving me the chance!

Well, African Rocks can get quite bulky and how long is she? When you move her weigh her and get her length, id like to know how much she weighs. I want one of my own, but then again....... i could get killed.

that snake has the shape of a blood python. to me it looks way too obease. you can also see its skin between the scales. it does look well fed though. lol
Jordan, the pics were taken right after the thing ate 3, 8 lb rabbits. Of course it'll look that big ;)
