Alrighty, here's the deal...
Just moved into a large 2 bedroom appt where the landlord actually doesn't mind herps!!! Just getting ready to setup my new reptile room and just wondering about ideas on how to do it or what you guys would do if you were setting up a new herp room.
The room is pretty large and had a rather large closet that is almost a walkin (think I might use that for arachnids). There is a baseboard heater in the room but it is pretty small so I will prob use an alternate method of heating the room
I don't have a rack system yet but I was thinking about building one that would border the outside of the room.
There is also a large window in the room so that will help to brighten up the room a bit but might also be a potential spot for heat loss. I will prob run extension cords and mount power bars to the walls where I need them.

Any other suggestions for your "ideal herp room" would be sweet.

Thanks,

:eb: i have an idea for this room.
if your going to be breeding i would put your rack system in a closet type thing with good ventilation, put a lot of medium height shelves with the smaller cages. put larger cages on the ground. the cages would make the border of the room. Then in the center if u can find a way put arachnids on a rack in a circle shape so its kind of like a donut from an aerial view. put your arachnids in the center and like on each wall have a different herp such as snakes on one wall lizard type creatures on another wall and so on. one more addition, have a freezer/fridge for food somewhere convenient in the room.

thx
