Well, the second clutch from my charcoal male / miami female is in the process of hatching. These guys are taking MUCH longer than the previous clutch. The first abmitious one was out on Friday, day 61 of incubation. So far only 4 of the 9 good eggs have hatched, and 3 haven't even pipped yet. But, so far 3 charcoals and 1 normal! And based on my scientific method of sexing (tail length, lol) it looks like 2 females thus far.
Still very exciting, albeit challenging on the nerves, sitting there looking at the same noses for 3 days, and standing over the incubator going "Come out! Come out!" hehehe
Pics later today or tomorrow.

Cool ya my second clutches just finished this weekend with 3 more groups of GBs. I too found they took an extra week or so compared to the first ones. I think the colder weather is a factor as cooler temps = longer incubation & I beleive you use the same "hi-tech' incubators as myself heh heh, just styrofoam coolers in the snake room. Mark

Update - 3 eggs still haven't pipped. I'm going to give them a couple more days though, since one of the eggshells hasn't even thinned yet.
BUT... 5 out 6 babies out are charcoals!!! Man, the Anery genes are STRONG in these parents... first clutch was 7 out of 10.

Hey Ken I don't know if this is possible but what if the female was double het for anery A and B and the male was also het for anery A. I think you could probably tell as the babies would probably look slightly different. Just a thought.
Congrats again

Thus far the babies look pretty much the same. The ones from the first clutch that I held back are developing very washed out "sooty" grey backgrounds, but I haven't seen any "definitive" things to look for in a charcoal vs. Anery A, at least as far as babies go. Future breeding trials will determine their true genes.

Ok, here's the "Evidence" requested by the Colonel. :D
First ambitious little one on Friday:

And a few of the little cuties:

All have pipped or hatched now, and it looks like the final count is 7 Anery and 2 normal. The first clutch was 7 Anery and 3 normal. I'm happy!
