View Full Version : help iding Ottawa frog
Sorry no pic. Was out without my camera. Found a small frog today that I couldn't identify. It was green on the back, brownish grey on the sides and lighter grey on the belly. There was a pale green spot under each eye. Approximately 2-3 cm in length. Any ideas?
maybe a grey tree frog .. hard to identify with your description but I see them here all the time...

can you search it and find a pic on google.ca and send the link here? i could i d it then
thanx froggy
The reason I asked is it didn't really match anything I've come across on the net. Probably a grey tree frog. Looked like one in size and shape, but never seen one with patternless green on the back, and no yellow/orange on the legs, so I wasn't sure. After reading some online guides I'm not sure it could be anything else (although I've never seen a cricket frog so I dont know).

Cricket frogs are quite rare and confined to EXTREME southern Ontario. Young gray tree frogs are green. Perhaps you saw a transition between green and gray? Below is a picture of a young gray tree frog from NE of Toronto.
