It's been a while since I've posted pics of Jette, and I finally managed to get a few decent ones the other day (well actually, more like a month ago -- but it's taken me this long to get around to going through them. lol.), so I figured I'd post a couple :)
First one's kinda crappy, but Joe wanted to see a size reference pic, so this one's for him:

And here's a few better pics :)

Thanks everyone! :)
Jason, she's actually just over 3' now -- don't think she'll be growing too much more, she hasn't seemed to get any longer recently, she's just been filling out a bit... I'm pretty sure she's all done growing, so my fingers are crossed for next year! ;)

Thats an awsome looking snake seanny likey!
I don't have much expierence with variable kings but i own a male and i guess he's nomal phase? grey with the redish saddles anyways if breed him will his offspring very in color? like some like him some black like yours? or are they different subspecies?
The funny thing is, that snake is even BLACKER in person. I couldn't believe it when I saw her. Nice to see her again Bowels, she looks good!

Thanks guys!
Mary, I'm hoping to get some new pics of the other 2 in the near future, so I'm sure you'll be seeing some soon :)
Seann, what you're describing sounds like a "normal" variable king, yes. Although as the name implies, they do vary greatly in appearance :) The black variables aren't a different subspecies, they're just not all that common. To the best of my knowledge, it's possible to produce them in a clutch from 2 "normal" variable parents, but your chances are greatly improved when at least one parent is black. The Gillards might be able to help out more with that question, as they've been producing the blacks for a couple of years now :)
Marisa, thanks! And yeah, she is -- it's pretty crazy!! Those pics are probably the best I've managed so far... those were taken in natural sunlight (well, sunlight through the window anyways :p). I find whenever I try to take pics of her in regular lighting, or with a flash, it just totally washes her out and she looks more grey than black.
Thanks again guys :)

wow gorgeous! How do you tell the difference between that one and a Mexican Black King???
Thats awsome Jen! she should go for sure for you.. if it keeps proving to go the way I think... the offspring looking more like the mother... then you should produce a couple blacks next year. Variables are one of my fav snakes in one litter you can get greeri loking offspring as well as the leonis and blacks, it's always fun watching them pip... congrats Jen looking great!
