What would be a good substrate for an adult Red Tegu?

I like peat moss or dirt for the tegus. We moisten one side, and leave the other side a bit dry. They really like to make burrows, so I would suggest at least 1 foot deep, more if you have the room.
We use sand for some monitors, leaves and mulch for others - I think as long as they can make a permanant burrow, they are pretty happy regardless of substrate. It's all about practicallity, whatever they can use.
