This guy just shed...again, so I figured I'd snap some pics before giving him a large rat. I'm really hoping this guy will be ready to breed in a few months. I've got a few ladies that can't wait to meet him. :D

Gotta love the freaky white eyes...

Erin,

The second one isn't really a Jaguar. It's a "normal" sibling from a clutch of Jaguars. The siblings look strange too, but not as strange as the true Jaguars, so that's why so many people make the distinction.

Thanks again!

Very nice Anthony, one question though, have people bred the jag siblings yet?

Jon,

Yes, someone in Europe bred one pair of Jaguar siblings and did not get anything special (i.e. Jaguars). To me, that means nothing, though. I'm of the firm belief that some Jaguar siblings really are completely normal, while others are carrying something genetic. Whether or not the Jaguar sibling look will be passed on, or whether it will produce something new, I don't know...but I believe there is something there.

While I don't have any plans to breed Jaguar siblings together any time soon, my partner (on the Jag project) and I do plan on breeding the male Jaguar to a handful of Jaguar siblings. We've got three female Jaguar siblings (one 2002, one 2003 and the 2004 pictured above), so we'll be trying all of them eventually.

If anything, I'd hope that breeding a Jaguar to a "normal" Jaguar sibling would produce somewhat different looking baby Jaguars...or a higher ratio of Jaguars to normal...or something? :)

There is nothing "normal" about Jag siblings. They seem to exhibit high yellow themselves. But the jag is just out of this world, man. By far the coolest morph of ANY snake ANYwhere.

Anthony, to the best of my knowledge, Will and Mary Leary have been the first people to breed Jags in the US so far. They had some jag and jag siblings at the daytona breeders expo.

You're absolutely correct. I'm actually pretty good friends with Will. In fact, the female Jaguar sibling pictured in this post was a gift from Will. She's from their first Jaguar clutch this year...which was the very first Jaguar clutch in the United States.

So far, they're the only people in the US to produce Jaguars. I'm hoping to be the second. :D
