Today I decided to pair up two females to give one of my growing cresties a larger enclosure. I did this around 12 pm today. At 3:30pm I was in my room reading and heard some movement in the enclosure with the two females. To my surprise they were fighting and each of them had wounds around their mouths, which broke the skin. I Immediately seperated the two. My question is has anyone heard of this or can offer an explantion why this agression was shown? Both females are the same size, my only guess is that It was a territorial fight but I thought this only occurred in males. These females previously lived with each other 3 months ago for roughly a year.
Thanks in advance.

I just thought of this. The gecko that appears to be the attacker just recently laid eggs around a week ago. Maybe she was protecting her eggs. I assuming that she is the attacker because the other gecko has more bite wounds and there is some flakes of shed around her head.

Females can sometimes show agression to each other, too. In breeding groups there is often a heirarchy where one female is dominant over the others and breeds with the male, but this probably isn't what you're seeing if there's no male in the tank...

I agree, it's probably something to so with the eggs. Are they still in the enclosure?

No I also remove the eggs once they are laid.
