Hello all,
I'm very new to breeding and I am gonna try and breed my pair for fun. They been seperated since July.
Female is 1603g-3 yrs approx
Male is 1546-4 yrs approx
My question is yes, I been using aquariums, but I have a 20L and a 55g. Should I treat the 20L as a rack and place the male in with the female? Or place the female in the 55g? The male is 46 inches. The female is 47 inches.
I just not entirely sure if they'll be...well squished in a 20L, lol. I need some helpful advice and some reinsurence.
I appogise for my spelling errors.

Thank you.

Anyone??
Use the 55 gallon tank. The 20L is way to small. Keep the male in the small tank and the female in the large one. Then introduce the male to the female in her cage.

Oh ya, so simple I didnt relize. Duh. lol THx.
As you mentioned, if you only seperated them two months ago, I would assume they lived their lives together. With that scenario, chances are good that you may get no activity whatsoever. 'Nother reason to seperate your balls (as if there weren't enough already).

They've been seperated since July. But because of that little error that exscaped me, yes, I relize I may get no activity. For future reference next year, should I seperate then in the beginning of June instead?
Thanks for the help guys.
No, you should keep them seperate ALWAYS and only throw them together during breeding season. I would also recommend you buying a book on the captive husbandry of ball pythons.

Thank you Mykee. I do have a book but apperently I missed a few things since this is my first attempt.
Always next year if nothing goes down ;)
Thank you again Mykee, you been very helpful.
BTW, Cute Chochlate Lab you got there Mykee. :) Looks very curious.
Just feed them heavy for this month. In Oct start the cooling process. Then introduce them together in Dec. Remember never to house two snake together unless they are breeding. If you don't see any action then seperate them for 5 day and try again. Checkout Ralph Davis site and go into the Matrix and then Ralph words and there is a write up on Breeding.
Good Luck
Z&S; If you're truly serious about breeding this year, I would highly recommend The Ball Python Breeding Video by Dr. Mark Seward featuring the Sutherlands. It's worth it's weight in gold for the first, second, fourth, tenth time breeder. You can find it on VHS or DVD at: www.ballpython.com
