Well, now that the deal is closed, I decided to finally post pics of my newest endeavor. These guys are very rare in Canada, but I managed to work out a deal for a 2.2 group. I have the males, the females will be coming to me at the fall TARAS show.

Everything I've read about Papuan pythons (Apodora papuanas) says that they are a docile and easy to handle species. Mine, however, are the devil. They lash at the glass if you walk by, and even try to tag your face when they are handled sometimes. Other times, they are mean while in the cage, and handle like corns when you take them out. Nonetheless, they keep you guessing, and keep you on your toes, that's for sure! They are one of the most GORGEOUS and fascinating species that I have ever worked with though.

Here they are, aptly named Satan and Lucifer:

Satan is quite a bit bigger than his couterpart, at about 7 feet total length.

I sure hope they calm down, because they do get quite big.... 10 to 14 feet.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Well, that could be a while... the females mature very slowly, and from what I've heard/read, the females may be like Morelia Boeleni, in that they may need to be 8 years old or more to breed. But, we shall see. I can certainly understand why they would be a dream snake, they are fascinating... terrors though they may be. :D

Sweeeet! Hope I can catch a glimpse at the Calgary show! They look like huge rubber boas with python heads and tails. :D

Wow! Nice snag, Kenny! :D

Best of luck with them. :)

P.S. maybe they are so mad because of the GIANT hide box you've given them! :p :D lol

Me with Satan:

Talking about yourself in the third person? tsk tsk. ;)

Nice snakes btw. Next time, slide the glass OPEN and stick your face in there when taking a closeup shot. :D

Those dirty closed glass shots really show what a wuss you are!

Open the sliding glass and take a decent picture man! Those are the nicest brown snakes I've seen in a while.

These snakes are the combination of what we love in rainbows, white lips, and olives all in one. I couldn't be prouder.

It's interesting, I've been observing their "agression" for some time now. Last night I took Lucifer out, and he started bluffing - I'm talking gaping mouth, slow strike that a 3 toed sloth could dodge.... but before he calmed down to this point, he was hitting the glass full force. Satan is already calming down, and doesn't strike at the glass as often as he used to.

Jimmy, time will tell on these guys if the captives are as placid as the literature I've read suggests. I've heard of even F1 captive white lipped pythons being far more calm than their WC parents. These papuans are most certainly wild caught, so we shall see....

Thanks again for the comments everyone.
