Hey.. I recently purchased a nice adult female and I've noticed she makes small hissing noises when she breaths. I think that it might be the start of a resp. If memory serves me, i should treat this stuff with slightly increased temps and higher humidity. is this correct?
she is currently in a tank with a warm hide at ~ 95 degrees.
Thanks for your help,
Justin

Once carpets start to get bigger they may exhale louder especially if nervous. They can exhale very quickly and a hiss can be heard. Its completely normal and I'm sure others will back me on this. If it sounds raspy or rattly and their is excessive saliva or mucus present then you definitely need to worry. Watch for a swollen mouth, excessive mucus, and bubbling from the nose. If it were my carpet and I even suspected it to have an infection I would take it to a qualified vet. We just took in a boa last week that had similar symptoms and although the vet thought he looked good and wasn't making any noise in the office he started a round of baytril just to be safe. Better safe then sorry.
Good luck
