View Full Version : dead within a few seconds
she got the rat with one fang right in the throat. Usually they die in about 30 seconds of so, but this lucky guy stopped moving after about 8-10 seconds.

Of what specie is that beauty? ( Speaking of the snake, of course, hehe! ) Its just so bad that venomous snakes are illegal in Québec...

Is it better to feed live prey to hots? Less risk of being bitten while feeding?
Just curious- and awesome pic btw! :)

Art, personally I dont consider it to be any different than non venomous, i have had hots that have been bit while killing a rodent justthe same as non venomous....unfortunately, this picky little girl refuses to eat anything not jumping around her cage :)

I hope that Québec will eventually accept venomous snakes in... Artemis is right, the pic is great! Gotta love arboreals!!!

hahaha, I wondered if maybe it was safer for the keeper to just drop one in alive rather than dangling the dead ones. Even with tongs, with the way some of these hots can strike, Id still fear for my fingertips ;) If I fed a hot f/t, id make is sub bloody nuclear so the clearest heat vision pic isnt my appendages.
Thanks for clarifying :)

Awesome pic Matt!!!!

Is that goo coming out of the rats mouth Venom that went up its throat to its mouth (since it was bitten IN the throat) , or just rat saliva???

Hi Matt,
awesome Animal and a nice shoot of it...
Actually the fluidum is coming from the Brain of the Rat, take a look how long are the theets by the Trimerusurus Specimen... Thats why, theyr Pray is dying so fast. Emagine how big the Fangs compare to the Body of the Rat? So think how big must be a Knife to kill a Human?
Cheers
