how should i go about cutting some screen i got at home depot to put over my rubbermaid cage. i cut a hole in the top and now i need to screen it so i can put a light on top of it. thanks for your help!

What are you housing? If it is a snake, then it is best to simply leave the lid intact, and drill holes in the side. This gives you more control over the environment inside (one of the main reasons rubbermaids make great cages), and permits heating from below, which is the most efficient way of heating most snakes.

To answer your question...
Assuming you have purchased hardware cloth, it can be cut with a good pair of household scissors or metal cutters. It can be securely fastened to the top by using screws and bolts.

thanks im glad to be here. im housing a cornsnake and the reason i chose the light ontop is because of fear of melting the bottom with a uth. thanks for the help this is thick screen and it sure wont cut with scissors! (heh)

You can just use a low/med/high sunbeam human heating pad. Set to low and make sure u dont get one of the ones with a 2hr shut-off

well as of now i woulda shoulda coulda, but now theres a hole in the top i want to cover with screen. so help with cutting it please! thank you.

I cut some pretty heavy duty screen with normal wire cutters. It was a big section, about 4x2ft, so it was a real pain, but it worked.
