Way back in August my cat knocked the weights, light and screen top off of my plains garter cage and both of them escaped even though I heard it happen and was there in just a few seconds. Fast little devils! I tore the place apart often but never found anything but poop in odd places for a few days.

On Thursday night I came home and found my same evil cat playing with the male, and surprisingly he only had a couple of minor bite wounds to his tail. He's a bit on the thin side but not too much, so he must have been eating bugs during his 2 month adventure. He should heal up and fatten up nicely.

Now I have new hope that the female is alive and doing reasonably well and will surface one of these days.

what you might try doing is taking something like a vcr or satalite receiver and plugging it in some where where the snake could get to it. the snake might crawl up on it for the warmth

Lisa, that's an excellent idea!! But I read it several hours after Lilith just appeared on her own on my living room floor. I found her before the cat did, too!!

No chance of baby garters until next year, thank goodness. Cat would have a field day with them and that would be awful.
