Hi everyone, well I woke up this morning and checked on my pets as I normally do and from where I was standing it looked a if my female boa had a bump on here side. Wend I went too examine closely I noticed she has maybe of them, on the lower 2/3's of her body. I have No idea what this might be. they are small bumps about the size of a penny in diameter, but there are several of them, I checked my other snakes and she is the only one with anything like this.

Any help ASAP would be great
Thanks,
Devon

No one has any ideas at all?? There are about a dozen of them, and 2 larger about the size of a quarter around. I will have her too the vet but I would like too have some idea what it might be. I didn’t notice them last night when I was cleaning her cage. Just this morning.

Hey. I have been searching all day for answers and have found nothing. One site said broken ribs causes lumps but in a snake this size I think the lumps form broken ribs would be bigger, she’s a 7 foot Bci ,plus how wound she break random ribs during the night ??
I have no idea what it might be.

I suggest you go to a vet, if its broken ribs, she might be bleeding all over within her body, if it's something else, then there might be more comming since you haven't found the source ( or fixed the problem... ). Good luck with your snake, hope there is nothing serious...

Devon, did you ever find out what this was? Is there a good vet for you to take the boa too?

Hi , well I forgot that I didn’t give a follow up on the situation I decided I would bring the big girl too the vet in Fredericton since she’s a good vet but when I went too count the bumps I found they were gone, just as mysteriously as they appeared. And they never did return,

I Have a 8 ft ,18 yr old RT Boa... He has several of the same "lumps" you are describing... I've never confimed it with a Vet but I believe they are Arthritic spots( Arthritis). Being that he is 18 years old and a snake is just a long string of joints.
Other that those "lumps" he acts perfectly fine, and eats fine, so I've just let him be.

just a guess but they could also be fat deposits..

Whatever they are they are gone now and seemed too have no effect on the snake, because of their rapid appearance and disappearance I would have too rule out fatty deposits plus she is not over weight. She is only 4 years of age so I doubt it was arthritis but it may have been joint inflammation of some sort, If it happens again I’ll be sure too get too a vet quicker just too know what it is.

Why don't you take her to a vet now. You can get a complete physical. It might avoid it from comming back again.

I suppose I could I just didn't think of it, the lumps came and went so quickly and she has been in perfect healthy in every way she had a perfect shed, and eats like its going out of style.

Devon you had mites not to long ago, things get spread through mites. She may have caught something. I think it's a good idea too. Leon tells me though that Dr. McGregor is now gone. Not sure who is left in Feddy that is experienced. But like I say any vet is better than no vet.
Cheers,

Dr.McGregor is gone ?? Hmmm that could through a wrench into it. I will have to start looking for a new vet. I had though maybe mites had a part in it. I have been looking out for any problems or returning mites but I think I have the mites beet. I'll start looking for a new vet. I'm glad I found out now that she is gone I’ll have to look for a new vet I always like too know where the closest one is.
