Thats the same guy that did the original of the 'Ring', is it not?
The original was called 'Ringu'?
He is apparently the best horror director right now. He makes freakishly scary movies.
He's doing 2 movies for Hollywood right now, that should both be out over the next two years.
This is cool, because it's the first time that a the US has had such an interest in 'bringing someone in' to do movies for them.
The movies will either be really good, or total crap in my book.
Hope they are the first!
Holy sh** I just watched the trailer and I have goosebumps all over my legs *looks behind himself* im a little freaked out now. Im just happy I saw it in the middle of the day lol. Itll be a movie that ill pay to see in the big theater thanks for sugesting it!!!

Ringu you can rent at almost any Rogers or Blockbuster.
The Ring was the first movie that gave me a jump in a long time.
I rent all kinds of horror flicks and I usually even love the bad ones.
It's good there are some new 'quality' ones comming out over the next few months.
Has anyone seen the new Exorcist? The prequel? I wanna go see that.

i heard the new exorcist isn't that great, but i'm going to go see it tomorrow night to see for myself. It got some pretty bad reviews, "...an unholy mess"(Atlanta Journal-Constitution) "...one interminably grisly waste"(Boston Globe) "...goes too far on too little motivation..."(Chicago Tribune) "Satan has lulled the audience to sleep."(E! Online) The ring didn't really scare me, there was that one scene with the girl in da closet and that only scared me cuz da person sitting next to me screamed and grabbed me lol. I was actually quite disappointed with that movie. Well now that i kno ringu is @ rogers or blockbuster i'm goin to try and rent that tonight, never actually tried looking for it b4 seing as it's a japanese movie in an american chain of stores.

I never listen to reviews. They dont know JACK!
Yeah, the girl in the closet DID make me jump. I totally didn't see it comming. The rest of the movie was scary, but not as scary as that scene.
It was like the remake of the Exorcist that came out in theatres a few years ago when she comes down the stairs backwads on all fours spewing blood. Gave me a good start!

Why hasn't Kate replied to this yet? :(
The Grudge is the SCARIEST movie I've ever seen in my life. It's worth seeing the originals if you can find them before the American one comes out...
Don't watch them alone :D

The remake of exorcist was less exciting but i admit it took wayyy to long for that movie to get going, with all the extra junk in the begging of the movie. For some weird reason that part where she came running down the stairs made me laugh lol.

OKAY JEEZ
I'm here, I'm here...
I didn't see this thread I swear :P
I have to set one thing straight or I will not sleep at night.. seriously. No joke.
Ju-On: The Grudge was in NO WAY, shape, or form created, directed, etc by the guy who created Ringu. Takashi Shimizu is the director, writer, blahblah of Ju-On.
I just don't want him associated with Ringu... no offense, but in comparison to his films, Ringu sucks.
ANYWAY. Everyone really seriously better hurry up and see these. I don't know how else to put it... Just please see these before the remake is released... Do whatever it takes!
Man. So good.

The cover of the first movie i think says that it's from the creator of ringu...oh well. :D Doesn't matter, the grudge is a great movie and will prolly be my fav horror flic for a while seing as how mildly scary the newer flicks r. I'm just dying to see the remake!!

Producers don't have anything to do with the making of the movie, by the way... :P
It's like how people really annoyingly say that Quentin Tarantino created Hero............. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
HeatherRose

*GASP* He questioned you Kate :O
I still want to see Hero, are we seeing Hero? Oh wait, you're leaving :'(...
Oops, we're doing that *thing* again where we talk to each other in threads!!! :S
GO GRUDGE GO!

Hahaha :P
we do NO such thing!!
I had passes to see it on Thursday... but I gave them to Beess....yea. But no matter what ANYBODY says, Quentin Tarantino did not create that film. It really does make me quite angry when people argue about it. Like my stalker for example... what a jerk.
I live with the country's 4th biggest movie freak (who happens to be friends with the country's top 3 movie freaks as well) ... so I know my stuff :| Ne question pas. ;) :p (I'm messing...)

Quentin actually had a toe in writing alot of movies that he just sold the scripts to. True Romance was the big one that he sold, but you can tell that he wrote it. It was a great movie, but would have been much better if he had directed it. Still a classic though.
Is his new one out yet? Hero, I think it's called? That should be something else.
Kill Bill 1 and 2 were great movies and all but pale in comparison to Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.
Just had to get my 2 cents in.

I don't think Quentin had much to do with any of the production of Hero, maybe he paid to get it dubbed.

Thats taking it a bit far ;)
Executive and Associate producers MAYBE dont have much to do with the making of the film, but the actual PRODUCER is the one who makes the whole thing!!
Executive and Associate are a lot of times "Honorary" Titles given to someone.. For instance, in a producer is looking for $$$, and Joe X. introduces producer to money guy, the producer might give Joe X. as Associate Producer credit just for that.

Also, as per Hero.. That was made years ago in China.. and I think Quentin paid to get it subtitled, and I think he paid for the rights to project it in the USA...
I dont think he has a credit in the film, unless its one of those honorary credits... like maybe executive Producer. If I had seen it I could tell you for sure.
I just saw the trailer....not scary AT ALL.....but thats just my opinion, the only movies that really gave me shivers were the Blair Witch Project, and the exorcist 1, exorcist 2 sucked. The BWP only gave me shivers because I live near a big wood, and I often walk through it......Anyway, lets turn this into a scariest scary movie thread ! or maybe I'll post my own....:P Ixidor
I laughed throuought all of BWP it had no effect on me and to tell you the truth I was pissed off that I payed to rent it.

BWP only scared me cuz I have never been camping so I dont know much about it..
But movies like Open Water dont really scare me cuz I am not affraid of water, or sharks...
Oh.. And Exorcist 3 is also a pretty scary movie... Prince or Darkness is too!!
