Just out of curiousity I was wondering if the two traits could be combined. Would it look any different, or just like a blizzard?
Thanks in advance

The result is the "banana blizzard". The overall coloration is creamy yellow with the head and tail being purplish-grey like a blizzard.

Thanks
I just thought the banana blizzard was the result of select breeding. Makes more sense now.

Patternless x blizzard = normal double het. I'm pretty certain on that one. Now, here i get confused.... need to start crossing the double hets and try to produce a hatchling with the typical patternless body, but the blizzard head and tail... no splotches on the head or tail, and they usually present with the dark blizzard hatchling coloration... same effort required as producing the patternless albino....but, i do have an email out, just in case... stand by!:D

You're right, Linda. Crossing patternless and blizzard gives you double hets. Crossing those double hets CAN end up with banana blizzards, but no guarantees. The mathematical odds are one thing, actually getting the genes to pair up the way we want is another matter.
In a perfect world, you'd get:
Het. blizzard, Het. patternless x Het. blizzard, Het. patternless,
6.25% WT
12.5% Het. patternless,
6.25% Homozygous patternless,
12.5% Het. blizzard,
25% Het. blizzard, Het. patternless,
12.5% Het. blizzard, Homozygous patternless,
6.25% Homozygous blizzard,
12.5% Homozygous blizzard, Het. patternless,
6.25% Homozygous blizzard, Homozygous patternless,
(Genetics calcs thanks to the Advanced Genetics Wizard (http://www.geneticswizard.com/default.asp)
It's hard to guess what some of them are het for, since they'll look normal (WT in this example).
You could get homo blizzard/patternless, but from the looks of things, the genes don't pair up that way as often as statistics say they should. Like Tremper x Patternless, it happens less often than we'd like.
Julie was right in a way - she just skipped the important middle step, giving the hoped for final result after a few years of breeding :)

Hmmm........forgot to mention the DH thing, as I take for granted that not everyone is aware of it already. I gotta remember that stuff! :D lol

Hey thanks everyone, Julie answered my question in the first post. I was aware of the double het thing. Know I have another question has there ever been an albino banana blizzard(not sure what it would be called)?
Blazing blizzard is just blizzard and albino combined correct? So would it be a blazzing banana blizzard?
While I'm asking questions heres another one, I heard that combining the blizzard gene and the albino gene does not occur as frequently as it should in theory(its very rare to get one). Is that true?

The albino and blizzard genes are highly incompatible. Why? Well, that's a good question without a very good answer LOL. There are VERY few people who have produced them, and they are certainly in very limited numbers. My guess would be that within maybe 5 years or so we may begin to see more blazing blizzards and from there the morphs there of. Who knows, maybe someone already has these gems and is holding out!:D
