Ok here is my question if you breed a Tang and a Tri-Colour together what will the babies be? Will they be a mix of both Tang and Tri-colours or what?

You would get some Tangerines, some Tri-colors and everything in between those two color phases, also called intermediate or peach phase like boy below.

The intermediate peach phase are very pretty - especially in hypo! The tangerines and tricolors are not inherited like a single gene recessive (like hypo or albino) so makes it harder to predict what you will get. There is a range between the whitest to reddish orange narrow bands that I believe relates to the geographic location that the original stock came from (darker in mountains - lighter are coastal - or opposite - Marc can clarify - he is the one who explained it to me!)

I know a tangerine to a tricolor can produce the whole range of colors and two tangerines can produce tricolors. I am pretty sure that two tricolors can also produce tangerines if they have tangerine influence in their backgrounds - but I think this happens less often than tangerines producing tricolors.

Great thing about hondos is all the wonderful combinations - especially when you add in the albino, and maybe more than one hypo! And they are all great snakes!

Yup the Hypo is simple recessive. If you have a hypo male and bred to a normal female of any phase all the babies will be Heterozygous for Hypo.
Here's my hypo male tangerine from Steve Hammack
I have a pair and they should produce next year.
I'm already looking forward to it.

Ah Roy that is just the most spectacular hypo - am sure hoping you will make babies from that pair available to the hobby here in Canada - those wide bands and great color make that one a perfect tangerine hypo!! I am sooooo jealous!

You are on target Mary,

The tri-colors are mostly found in Higher elevations where as Tangerines are found at lower elevations...

Roy, your beautiful Hypos will be a great addition to the bloodlines up here....
