Hey All, was touring a local pet store today and came across this lil Gem, and after looking up several pictures of various Rainbow Boas as babies, i got stumped!

So can anyone help ID this lil snake? more specifically what kind of Rainbow?

my first thought would be paraguay, E. C. crassus, but i've never seen one with black dots in the red. the colors, side pattern and head striping are right for that subspecies tho. crassus also tend to have relatively narrow heads.

I've seen a pic of baby Paraguayan Rainbows... they all had the black dots as that one has.

yes this lil baby had a very narrow head, almost inline with its body, does anyone have any pics of what these lil bad boys look like when they reach adult hood?

as adults, crassus tend to be rusty in color, but the pattern is still very visible. they also remain very irridescent. i dont have any, but i think they are very cool rainbows, and there should be more of them around. in terms of temperment, adults i have worked with were very placid despite the fact that they were wc.

We've only got a single Brazilian, but he's awesome. A great feeder (now taking fuzzy rats), doesn't bite if you hook him out first...hehehe... otherwise very handleable. His sire is near 7'... a HUGE male.

I like the epicrates genus in general... very interesting animals. Good luck with the lil one. :)

haven't purchased this lil one as of yet, wanted to get some more background on this paticular lil fellow, and also, as i'll be adding this guy to future breeding projects should i decide to purchase him assuming of course it's a him, not that it matters, but wanted to see if people would even be intrested in this paticular type of rainbow...not gonna breed it, if can't find homes for them all, and that good stuff, anyone know what the market is for these guys? and whats the going rate on these guys btw?
