silly q about feeding in a paper bag

How do you get the ball to stay in the paper bag? I tried feeding my female in a paper bag with a f/t rat last night. I rolled the end of the bag shut, but she busted out in less than a minute and then proceeded to flatten the offending bag. Other than not eating, it was actually quite funny. any thoughts?

How big is your BP? If it's pretty small I would personally recommend a plastic kritter keeper of appropriate size in a dark spot instead. They can't bust out easily and it works great. They're not too expensive either.

My BP is about 3 1/2', so I feed her in the bathtub now, it works great for me but I'm always there to supervise. Depends on if your snake is a shy feeder. I'm lucky that mine lets me watch :)

Try tying it shut (but don't leave it overnight unless there is some way for air to get in and out - snakes have shallow respiratory systmsn and don't require much oxygen, but I still get paranoid :rolleyes: ), or you can put her in a pillowcase and tie that shut. You could also avoid the bag altogether and find a small cardboard box and punch a few holes in that, but make sure it is a snug box :)

I had to do the paper bag trick with mine when he was small .. I just punched a couple of holes in the bag and paper clipped the end shut.

we use a tupperware with holes drilled in it for air. works great, don't even have to close it for some of our snakes

Hey, in " The Ball Python Manual" i believe it says to staple the bag shut. Never leave it unsupervised though. I'm by no means an expert as i dont even have a ball yet. But thats my suggestion. If its not correct i'm sorry. I thought i read that tho. May wanna clear it with everyone first.
