View Full Version : How much to feed?
I am posting this on behalf of my brother. He is wondering how many "medium size" crickets he should be feeding his leo daily. His lizard is about 5" long and it looks pretty slim to me. The pet store said he should be fed about 6 crickets a day but I have been telling him to feed as much as the gecko will take. Today we decided to feed it until it wouldn't eat anymore and it ate about 20 crickets, maybe more if we hadn't run out. Anyways, now i am asking you guys to clarify this, about how many crix should this little guy be eating every day?

That is probaly a little to much....my adults eat only 10 every second day..........they weight 85 grams........which is a very good weight dor an leo...
For a thin or emaciated leo, their food intake should start off small and gradually build up as the animal gains weight. By eating too many, the leo will probably regurgitate, leaving it weaker than before. Offer it food daily, and I would suggest a mix of mealies and crickets. Throw some waxies in for their fat, and don't let the gecko gorge itself again. Keep us updated on it's progress...
P.S. When the leo is about the normal weight for it's age, food can be offered until the leo refuses to eat anymore...
Hope this helps!! =)
I'll try to do that. Thanks alot.
