I am going to Bancroft (not actually Bancroft, Lake St. Peter), and Apsley for a couple days and was wondering if anyone knew of any good herpin' spots, and/or species I should look for while out there.

Thanks

Steve

I was herping at lake st peter about 6weeks ago, It was the worst herpung trip iv taken yet LOL.

I found a eastern garter and 3 my son found about three red back sallies.

I am not saying there is nothing there though, just that i did not find much.

But on your way up there you do pass some prime Hog nose country. Also Just south of apsly This year so far i have all nine snake species that can be found in this area.
Hogs
milks
water
red bellies
browns
ring necks
ribbons
garters
smooth greens

And a ton of Five line skinks.

What are some good places to find the hognoses in Apsley? My friend has a cottage up there and we were looking to find snakes, but we only found a salamander. Mind you, we only looked for an hour.

Thanks Jayson. I am hoping to find something other than garter's because I have seen and caught way to many in my lifetime. Hopefully I will come accross a hog or eastern milk, that would make my weekend. Actually...I just hope I find SOMETHING cause I haven't been on a herpin' trip in a couple years, and this is going to be my only chance this year.

Its a little hard to explain because I always get to these spots via ATV But hoggies can be found near the petroglyphs park and nephton mine area and all the way through to apsly and even back towards warsaw caves area.

They are extreamly hard to find and they dont stay put in one area very long (they like to travel)
