my corn snake is lost

my corn snake is gone i looked all over all day:( im so sad he was the very first corn snake i ever got and i really loved him:( i put out a pinkey out for him to eat out in the middle of the floor for him to eat and a heat lamp so just in case he gets cold in the night he chould warm up i dont know where to look i look every where???he ran away be4 but i found him in a hour. i dont know how he gets out its always close and its a pretty heavy cage top.well if u have any tips please tell me i really want to find him:(

I'm sorry to hear about your snake... they're always harder to find when they are small... I'm just wondering how it got out...

Keep searching for it, I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere, or it may come out when it's hungry. Leaving food out is a good idea... maybe it'll smell the pinky and come out... keep us updated, and read the other post (How to find a Retic or something like that) for more ideas on finding your snake... =)

More corn snakes escape every year, than any other snake.. Cages with "tops" are always the problem, as tops never fit airtight and that's about what you need to keep baby corns in.
If your cage was a tank, they climb up the silcone in aquariums and go around and around lids until they find a 1/8 inch crack and they squeeze under, around, and out.
You need to keep baby corns in rubbermaid shoeboxes or food savers with air tight seals until they get bigger.(with small holes for air of course)
Finding baby corns is very tough. In my experince they neither come to food or heat.. thats more urban myth than reality.
If you find it, it will be along the wall base or in a closet, under junk or in a corner under something almost flat against the floor. If you have unscreened floor vents they somtimes go down there and end up on the heat exchanger of the furnace.. I've dug a couple Pueblan milks out of my furnace, after hearing them rubbing the metal..
Search at night and all corners ,put books or pieces of wood jacked up at one end with a pencil.
They like to find some place to wedge themselves into.Check such hides early morning. It's highly unlikely you'll find it crossing the open floor.
Sometimes putting aluminum foil around the wall will allow you to hear it at night, providing you're in the same room.
They often show up weeks after they escape, so don't lose hope.. Search every night

Another thing to note, is to make sure there's a source of drinking water on the floor of the room or something. Dehydration could kill your lil corn. They can go a while without food, but not long without water.

I had my first corn escape within 24 hours [up the silicione and out a tiny gap] and didn't find him for <B>2 months</b>. I'd given up hope and assumed he'd gone to a toastly grave in the furnace but I found him curled under a plastic pot in my basement.
Very dehydrated and it took him a few days to want to eat again [had to brain his pinkie] and many months to be docile again. He'd only had 2 meals before I bought him and was gone for so long that he must have descided he was a wild snake!

These two corns were the same age! The smaller one got out of a rubbermaid with a faulty lid and down into the furnace vents and stayed in my crawlspace though the fall,winter and I found him in the spring seven months later.He probably survived b/c it was fairly cold down there and just brumated.When I found him he was very dehydrated and spent about an hour soaking and drinking and took a pinkie about 2 days later!

Stockwell U da man, lol I had my snake trap out but i didn't work i just wasted valuable mice so i decided to read your post here and decided hey i'll do one search around the perimeter of the basement and then go to bed I did that in a matter of 5 seconds bam i found the king snake, Actually i looked their a thousand times before but i prolly scared it off the other times i looked.
