hi i'm getting a pair of corns and i just wanted to know if it is possible for a corn to be triple het.they are het for anery, snow and amel.

yes corns can be trip het
heck they can be multi het for tons of stuff

but your animals can't be triple hets....
1) Amel het anery.....that is only 1 het....
2) Normal het anery and amel.....

Cause amel + anerys are snows....

you can have trip hets if your normal is het amel, anery and hypos....but snows are already the combination of the anery and amel gene....so we don't count that as being the 3rd gene....

Also an amel can't be het for amel....cause its already homozygous for amel genes already. Therefore it can't be het amel.....unless there is another type of amel genes that you have found out.....that we all other corn snake breeders haven't....LOL!!

Corn king 73, try this out for some basic genetics knowledge: http://www3.mb.sympatico.ca/~cranwill/faq22.html

As for what corn "A" bred to corn "B" will make, that will take some time to learn. Just ask quesitons and read a lot. It will be easy once you get the hang of it. :)

Now for your question in the other thread. Your animals must have come from a Snow x Normal breeding. The normal would have been het for albino and anery (which makes snows). So in that clutch, there would be:

1/4 Snows
1/4 amels het for anery **
1/4 anerys het for amel and...
1/4 normals het amel and anery. ***

You got the amel het anery ** and normal double het ***.

:D It will get easier. Don't worry. :)

Search for a neat little program called Mick's cornsnake progency predictor.

*edit* Here it is ( http://mywebpages.comcast.net/spencer62/cornprog.html ) I had hours of fun figuring out what would make what.

ok tim and simon i just talked to the guy and he said that they are

Female amel het - Anery, snow, regular
Male regular het - Anery, snow, amel.

Simon

................
Female amel het anery, snow and regular...
normal isn't actually het for.....
and snow there isn't need for that since the amel is already homozygous for it and its already het anery.....

So what he really means is
Amel het anery
Normal het anery and amel....

Yup. He means what we said. He's just not saying it properly. Snakes aren't really referred to as "het normal". lol :)

When you breed your snakes together, you'll get:

3/8 normals het for albino
3/8 albinos 66% poss het anery
1/8 snows
1/8 anery het albino

LOL
don't worry
take your time~
I am still learning all these new corn genetics.....its like the limit for corns is endless.....

I have been breeding corns for 12 years now.....and I still can't figure out all the genetics behind the corns.....so don't worry I had a head start of 12 years.

Once you get used to it, its actually pretty simple to figure out the common stuff its just the new genetics and all that is making my head pop~!! Take your time and have fun!
