I have a pair of Diadem's and the female is absolutely gorgeous, she is very bright and has a very well defined pattern but the male has large black spots at various points along his body and his head has a reddish tinge and is larger than the females. This is my first pair of Diadem's so I am not sure if this is normal. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Steve

Not a clue, but where did you get those from? Are they cbb? and do they feed ok?

I got them from my local herp store. I was told they are cbb. They both eat fine (the male won't eat unless he is in is hide, however).

I've seen a few with the black spots. How big are they? I understand that the color/pattern changes as they grow.

The male is about 2' or more and the female is around 3'.

So they aren't quite full grown yet. Don't worry, the spots are normal. Sit back and enjoy them and their color changes. They are awesome snakes. :) We almost bought one down in Daytona, LOL

I can't get over how gorgeous the female is! The only problem is that she has a bit of an attitude, I tried to weigh her the other day but she didn't want any part of that:)

I'll try to dig up pictures of the ones we sold to Ken Taylor - they all had varying amounts of black on them, and had red heads.

Did you see those ones? They were the most memorable snakes we ever kept. When all 3 hissed, it sounded like a steam engine.

Yeah! When mine get going it sounds like that. Right now I have to keep them in my nephews room(I moved in with him and his gf and have to wait for their other roomate to move out before I get em in my room)and his gf will take off running down the hall when they get going (I have never seen anyone move so quick:)). They are such great snakes. I don't think I ever saw those ones at Ken's. Thanks (for the pics if you find em).
