View Full Version : Gutload Recipes
What is your gutload recipe? I use the same gutload diet for all my feeders, dry for worms and I moisten it and put it in a bottle cap for crickets.

*fish food flakes
*white bran
*red bran
*oat bran
*12 grain mix
*wheat germ
*shredded coconut
*rye flakes
*rolled oats
*mazuri rodent diet (the dust in the bottom of the bags)</center>
Just wondering what everyone else uses to gutload their bugs :)

Linds...All i got to say is judgeing by the apearence of your geckos, that diet may work TOO well..lol i dont think ive ever seen more healthy happy looking lizards!..and the grouth rate is well...WOW!
i toss in my leftover greens (from the iguana salad) for the crix
- collards, dandelion, water cress, arugula...that kinda stuff
as well as a dish of fish flakes smushed with water
my dry mix is a combo of grains (oats, bran, wheat germ) spirulina flakes, powderes alfalfa, milk powder and some calcium powder
i add something juicy for them to chomp on the top like a zuchinni ir a piece of spag. squash
LOL...thanks Chris! :)
Thanks for sharing, Sillke! :)

For the mice and rats I give them broccoli, carrots, gatorade, and sunflower seeds for 48hrs. Another method is to deny food and drink for a full 24-36 hours and then letting them gorge right before feeding them off. Not a gutload for crixs but even snakes benefit from preping the prey.
