hey everyone, well i know it's late in the season but i decided to try breeding my patternless rainwater with my male rainwater tonight. my male went right for her and grabbed her neck. this is the first time i've witnessed a willing female of mine and she just sat there. then after about 30 sec of him holding on to her neck he let go and walked away (this is gross, but it almost looked like he was masturbating in the dirt)......then after about 2 minutes of this he went back to her and grabbed her neck again. after about 20-30 seconds of holding on to her neck and convulsing his body he finally finished the job.......is this normal behaviour? i mean, the part where he walks away and rubs his "back-end" in the dirt? any input would be appreciated!

thnx,

Yup, I have seen it many times. I've seen them ( and this is really nasty) walk away mid-way, lick themselves for a few minutes with everything "hanging out" and then go back to the female. Different strokes for different folks I suppose! lol

lol, thnx julie! i just thought since he has never been bred he might be really really ready to go....lol.......oh, another thing i forgot to ask.........when they finally got down to it he seemed to go for a bit, take a break, go for a bit, take another break, and then go for a bit, and then the female walked away.....is it normal for them to go three times like that or is he just a machine? lol
