I haven't been able to find info regarding how long and at what weight a female spotted (or a male for that matter), should be prior to mating. Any helpful tips? My girl will be 2 years old soon, and is over 2' long now. Thanks in advance!

TK

PS I don't have a male, but would like the info before I even find one ;)

I think there might be something in The Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas about breeding them. I'll check and get back to you. Also Roy Stockwell breeds them maybe he might drop a line here to fill us in. This interest me too because I'm getting a pair of spotted.
Cheers,
Trevor

Piece of cake... they are the corns of the Boid world... Aussie deworms I call em. I bred them for 10 years straight, got bored, took a break , now breeding them again. I've bred them at 18 months but its best to wait till they are 3.
Cool evenings during winter months, down to low 70'sF.. mist them down in the evening before lights out, they'll be hooked up in the morning.
Fertile matings usually occur xmas into March.
Eggs coming in May, hatching fairly fast at 45 to 55 days... Spotteds and Childrens, the exact same conditioning.
Have fun

Do you turn their hots spots off at night too or leave in on and let the room go down to 70?
Thanks,
Trevor

I don't use hot spots at all until they look gravid. My entire room temp goes up and down in steps.
I use Hunter battery powered setback thermostats(the normal home furnace type) through a 24volt relay to turn on a small thousand watt black and decker room heater(fan blown) It's fully automatic and I generally just slowly lower the night setting as winter comes with it going from 80 at night most of the year down to 70F at night by xmas time.
