View Full Version : Pit lovers?? *pics*
Poor lonely Pituophis no one seems to like this guys which is an awful shame as there are some very beautiful species and interesting characters in this genus.
Here are some pics of two of my pits.
First is my little northernl pine whom I got from SCALES. This guy is a consistent eater on hoppers. Never a hiss, no attitude whatsoever. Very calm.

You can see he has loads of colour and I actually picked him out as one of the ones with least colour!!
And this li'l beauty. Andy is his name. My favourite pitty guy, an albino bull snake. About four feet now. Eats rats (finally!), got him a female so hopefully I'll have little baby hets in awhile. No hissing, no attitude, so easy to handle. Pics do his no justice. He's quite yellow and quite red. He just looks surreal.
Check out the neat eye!!

Yes, I know he's an albino, but I like him. <snicker>
I wanna play too! Here's my late '02 Northern Pine. She looks close to the Pine Barren locale animals, but as such, she comes with no history. My ideal Northern Pine look. :)

All great looking pits, but of course, Andy is my fave!! Love the albino look in bulls (next to white-sided!!) Can't believe he is your favorite Katt - what with you being in the Anti-Albino league.

Katt- I LOVE the Northern Pine! Wow! Definitly makes me take a second thought and look at Pits! Great photos.

I'm not normally a huge fan of albinos either (except retics [out of my league] and t+ balls [out of my price range]) but that bull is absolutely gorgeous (sp?). I like the pines too.

I love the expressions they have on their faces :p Very nice looking snakes, guys!
I LOVE pits! :) And all of those guys are beauties!!! I especially think your northern pine is gorgeous Katt!!!!
......ssssooooooo jealous.... lol ;)
I can't believe you guys like that northern pine. I think he's down right yucky compared to Vanan's. I guess it's one of those things that you have to see in the scale to compare. I picked out the palest baby b/c I wanted less colour.
SCALES still has a few northern pine babies, if you guys are looking. I'd get another pine if I could. The ones they have are bigger and more colourful than my guy. He went on a hunger strike for a bit.
"I think he's down right yucky compared to Vanan's."
Wow really? Because if I was buying one of those two, it would be yours I would LOVE to have over Vanan's....obviously no offence to you Vanan as yours is also nice, but I LOVE Katt's.
Then again, like you say, maybe the story is different in person. :)
Both nice though!

:P:P Bah! You guys don't know where it's at!! lol! :D
We were just over at SCALES today looking at the baby pine and they have one KILLER looking male. The fore head is so pale it looks bald. Anyone looking to buy one, should get that one!! The others are also super colourful and much bigger than my guy! Wow!!

You noticed the bald head pattern too? I like that one, and was thinking I might keep it.
I'd like to see updated pictures of Alex's male. It was the smallest one hatched, and not the one we had picked out for Alex (when he saw the pictures of all of them, he wisely picked that one) but ate great, and was the most pink. It shed for the second time just before we sent it to Alex - and it got insanely pink, I wanted to keep it.
Katt seems to think she gets commission off of my snake sales or something?!? Thanks bro! lol smiley face

Oh, and you are making me wish I never parted with that albino bullsnake. Want some really pink pines instead?

Does anyone keep kankaki (<--spelling mistake?)bull snakes? Ken Taylor kept them but I haven't seen them anywhere else.

I love pits! We have gopher rescues where I work, they're fun to work with.
Steve, I have not heard of anyone working with locality bulls in Canada, let alone Kankakee locale. Might be nice if someone did. Speaking of which, pretty much any northern locale bull is pretty dark. Even the Montana bulls and Iowa bulls are fairly dark. Dark up until you hit the Canadian border. Then they get red. Go figure! lol

I think Vanan said he's a southern pine. Nice snakes but I have a hell of a time getting a picture of this guy, damn colubrids move too much! lol!
lol! Nice snake Mike! that's one heck of a controversial snake! Seems like the flash washed out his colours a bit in the first pic, no?

Yeah the flash washed him right out but when I tried it without the flash I got a blur of snakey streaks. lol!
He's chocolate milk coloured with a little pink toward the belly, that's the best way I can describe his background colour, with brown markings that kind of go orange towards the end of the tail.

There are more "Pit-Heads" out there than you may realize, lol!
Don't know if I've ever posted these pics here, but here's one of a female "hypomelanistic, aberrant-patterned" Sonoran Gopher Snake which came from my first-ever clutch of Sonoran eggs back in '96/'97, if memory serves...

The animal is pictured with a normal sibling.
Cheers!
