One of canada's largest snake..

Here is Hunter a 240 pound reticulated python .. She's has got to be defenetly one of the largest snakes up here...

Heres a pic .. Im on the left and Shane is on the right .. This is a 4 year old and about 2 month snake .. crazy feeder and groth rate - female obviously (in shed)around 18 feet .. She isn't mine .. just one of the too many animals I work with.

Talk to "scales zoo". I believe they have retics up to 19'. I also had a 21' burm (probably one of the biggest captive burms ever) that died last month. What a loss...
But Hunter is still a very big python and will probably outgrow my burm. Congrats!

I have seen Ryan an sheila pic's .. If I remeber well theres is around 190 pounds .. I may be wrong but I beleive you are right when u say they claim it to be 19 feet .. Correct me if I am wrong Ryan or Sheila??

Theres not that many snakes over 16 feet in canada..

Your 21 foot burm is big but not as big as the 27 foot burm named Baby! Sorry to hear it passed away .. must of been qhite the snake!

I was watching zoo diaries and they weighed the male at the TO zoo and it was 264 lbs but I can't remember if that was with the box he was in or not. Too big for me. 4 yrs old? Wow what kinda of a feeding schedual is it on?

It has alwasy been fed on every saturday althoguh it does not alwasy eat.. ends up eating about once every two weks.. but when it eats it eat like CRAZY ..

Reptilia Retic is not 20 feet ... Its big but nowhere that ... pretty sure is around 14-16 feet max but if someone actually knows the size let me knwo .. I think it looks big because of the weird caging its in .. All the cages attached together makes it looker bigger..

I think the big problem with bi snakes is too many ppl claim to having Huge snakes and end up alwasy exagerating .. I know there are a few 20 footers in canada.. I am just pretty sure that its not eh one at reptila or at the Toronot zoo ..

I am thinking that It may be Ryans that has the longest one out there.. but know really knows

Pandora measures 19.25 - 19.5 feet. I'm sure if I pulled on her tail a bit I could get her to measure very close to 20'. It is very difficult to accurately measure big snakes lengths. I often refer to her as a 20' snake when talking to people - as she is so close, and I too tend to exagerate I guess, hehe.

I need to weigh her again, I think she has gained weight. Last weight was 190 lbs, I doubt she is over 200, but may be close to the 200 mark.

I know of 1 Retic (not on display) that is over 20 feet long, but I've also claimed Pandora to be the longest snake on display in Canada.

If I remember well "Wolf Captive Breding" in bc or in the west anyway had a HUGE monster rock python .. it was for sale a while back .. dunno how big it was or how much it sold .. I know though my girl is a baby form one of her clutch and is around the 75 pound now..

Our female retic Pandora is about 13 years old. She weighs more than 200 lbs after eating, I guess.

Our tiger retic, who was Nathans, is over 18' long, and is thicker than Pandora. She is only 5 years old, and one of the largest Tiger retics I've ever seen or heard of.

Nathan's female Afrock is 20' and 200 lbs, and is the same one that was sold a while back (no longer Nathans) . It was offered to us from Nathan, but we had no extra room for that monster.

If I do remember she was still obese and it affected her lifespan.

I think to hit a 400 pounder would be closer to 35-40 foot. Without it being somewhat obese.

I would have to say that there are larger then 20 foot retics in Canada, you just dont hear about them.

400 pounds for a 35-40 footer?!? nothing could be more out of truth. Let's see...math says that when you double the size of a body you get 8 times the cubic size of the original. That means it will weight 8 times more. Assuming the ideal weight for a 20' retic is around 200 pounds, a 40' would weight 1600 pounds. Even a 30 footer, wich would be half way in-between, could weight 800 pounds. And these are figures for a retic, imagine a burm or rock python.

And now, to prove EVERYTHING is a 20 footer these days(hehe, i posted this on the boa forum also, just for fun) :

I don't think I'm exagerating here. From what I read Baby was obese at 400+ lbs. and 27 feet. So to have a snake that is JUST muscle and not totally obese at 400 pounds I believe the snake would have to be pushing close to 35 feet.

I agree with you. From the pics I have seen of 'Baby', she did look obese, which is unfortunately quite common amongst large pythons in captivity :(
