my fiancee and I recently got a baby dum male he is absolutely amazing but...the breeder we got him from we do trust alot...but I have been reading thru past posts....this man sold me this baby willingly at 6 days old, he had not ate...nothing...he is heathly none the less and very tame already he isnt even jumpy really when we get him out of his enclosure...he has a hefty habitat a 100 gal aquarium in a quiet room. we tried to feed him a rat pup yesterday evening he didnt want anything to do with it nor did he want a f/t pup...but today I found some more info on them which seems very promising...we are gonna give him a few more days then try again but this time at night alone in a calm soothing environment... I just wanted to post and tell u all that just reading what u have posted and recommended for others is becoming very useful for myself THANK YOU~!~

100 gallon tank is kinda huge for a baby snake of any kind. Your baby would feel much more secure in a much smaller tank ie. 10 gallon to start. You could also use similar size rubbermaid container. It is a lot easier to control temps and humidity in a smaller tank as well, these things are crucial in establishing an environment that your snake will feel comfortable enough in to want to eat. As well you need fairly tight fitting hide spots for it. Hope this helps a bit and good luck!

I would put him in a small rubbermaid until he is established. I also would not be handling a snake that has not eaten yet. Frankly I think it is iresponsible to sell a snake that has not been established yet unless it is going to someone with a lot of experience starting snakes.
If the snake has not had it's first shed yet then I would not worry about it not eating yet.
My advice, place it into a small rubbermaid with two hides and a water bowl. Make sure the temps are correct and leave it alone until it's first shed. If it has shed then wait a week. Offer it a F/T pinky rat and then go from there. You want to make sure it is established before handling it so I would wait 4 meals and one deffication.

Take him out of the 100 gallons tank. He's going to stress out for sure!!! Smaller enclosures make babies feel more secure... Try feeding it frozen food a couple times again, then if the snake doesn't eat within two weeks, feed it a live rat pup. Patience is the key, don't feed it a live one if you ever have the chance to start it on dead food...

Thank you all....we moved him into a 10 gal with a hide and water bowl he is in a quiet room...we had to move him from the 100 anyways due to a new addition to the family...he is doin better...he is peekin his head out more to look around *in the 100 gal he hardly ever made himself visable* but Thanks ago for the help....I am already attached I would hate to have something happen to this lil guy
