I'd like to find out how many use UVB lighting for their leopard geckos, or feel that it should be used for leo's. Thanks!
As long as you supplement with calcium they are fine. Nocturnal reptiles produce there own D3 and even if you got one they would not be benifited. How does UV travel through plastic AKA the hide lol

That's my thinking. The reason I posted this poll is because I have been in a never ending arguement with ppl on another reptile forum who insist you should have UVB lighting for leo's. I have been keeping leo's for years without it and they keep arguing with me. So I wanted to hear everyone's opinions here.
I don't use UVB. It's doesn't make sense... leopard geckos are primarily night creatures who don't bask in the sun... I don't think it would hurt, though, if you wanted to use it. =)

For leos it's not needed at all. If you wanted to though you can use a 2.0 uvb light, i heard it makes thier colors brighter and that's about it. I would worry about too much UVB seeing as leos don't need it, what if too much UVB could cause harm to them.

You don't have to waste all that money to reap the benefits of the 2.0 uvb light, you can purchase a full-spectrum light at your local hardware store or department for a few dollars, that simulate the sunlight. They don't actually make the colours any different, they just enhance the appearance of them.

So why is it everyone on this forum agrees with me, and everyone on the other forum argues w/me about this??
because they are stupid... we dont know lol unless ofcourse there is some one on this forum with phychic abilities

Im just curious whats the forum ? UVB is definately not needed, they are nocturnal, they come out at NIGHT when there is no uv light at all :D
But ofcourse if you look at the poll someone thinks they need it.

LOL Matt! I am also curious as to what 'other' forum is being referred to here... They obviously don't know what they are talking about... Correcting them could save them money!!! LOL =)

I checked out that forum and it seems they too for the most part (including the person you moderate the forum) believe UVB lighting is not necisary when a miner all suppliment is used.
But UVB doesnt give off minerals lol the only thing it gives off is UV which is what some reptiles need to produce VITAMIN D3 lol not any type of mineral.

Heh so I guess they dont know much about anything :D Leos aren't my area of expertise (not that I'm an expert in any area but I'm working on it, nothing you can do but learn as much as you can) although they do fascinate me, but they did all seem to agree UVB lighting wasn't needed, I used calcium powder to get Vit D3 which is probably what they meant too I dunno though.

You're serious? When I was there, they insisted the lighting was needed!
