I thought I would start this thread, with the topic being snakes eating. If it catches on, might prove to have some cool photos.
Mine are a bit "bland." Nothing super cool.
First off, a Longnose and a Banded gecko.

Well a longnose snake will mostly eat lizards in the wild so I doubt that one would eat mice. If his snakes are wc, then for sure the longnose will prefer a lizard to a mice.

Ya having said that there are lots of people on here that have lizards and dont want to see that. And by the way the snake will eat mice.

Some snakes prey upon small lizards, whats the difference between a feeder lizard and feeder mouse or rat? nothing really IMO.

If it's a wc, the snake might not want to eat mice. He lives in Arizona, the snake can very well be a wc, it's found in Arizona.

Great pics everyone! The whole snake eating lizards is irrelevant. That's nature folks, circle of life and all that.
ever heard of a feeder leo?
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v167/Vanan/Snakes/vineeating1.jpg">
It's a fact of life. Get over it! Just cos longnoses CAN eat rodents doesn't mean it's best for them. I, for one, recommend feeding herp eaters herps occasionally. An all rodent diet IS NOT the best diet for a lot of snake species in captivity.
P.S. Apologies too all the leo people out there. The pic was meant to get a point across. BTW, the leo in the pic was raised as a feeder by yours truly.

Oh my, you in trouble now Vanan ;-) Should photoshop your image and change the color of that tail to a brownish and pass it as a banded, less comon and people seem to not mind as much. lol

Beat me to it Vanan. But honestly, you may keep them as pets, while some species live off of them. Similarly, many people keep MICE and RATS as pets, and the majority of snake owners feed those rodents to their snakes.

For some reason, feeder leos bother me. It must because they are so widely known as great pets.

I kept rats for almost as long as I had snakes. I only gave them up b/c of severe allergies. They're great pets, very sentient and aware. Certainly don't deserve to murdered and then photographed when dead and fed to a thoughtless animal.
You get over it.

do boas eat lizards?
keep the pics coming guys they are too cool!
Boas of the genus Candoia eat lizards. Many Epicrates have been known to eat lizards when juveniles.

Those are some great pics. That crestie photo would be even better without the jpeg artifacting. It's sweet!
On the feeding-what-to-whom comments, I don't really get why someone would read the topic, which is pretty straightforward, come into the thread and then say "I don't want to see that."
It should be obvious to most members that there is a great variety of animals kept by their peers, and that the diet of these animals varies widely.
You shouldn't be surprised to find mice, rats, eggs, chicks, lizards, worms, bugs, arachnids, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, pigs, goats, and even snakes on the menu depending on the species.
If any of those things being offered up as food offend you, there are lots of other threads that can inform and entertain. Meanwhile, there are others who find the eating habits of these fascinating animals very interesting.
Cheers,
Mike

Nice, nice, nice. Just what I was hoping to see. Great photos from all.
About that Longnose snake. It is a WC snake, and deserves to have native meals. Plus, all it will take. But, it is healthy, living fine and doing just great. Many other species, including the sidwinders I have at home, will be nearly stuck on a lizard only diet, like the vine snake eating the leo.
Here is a photo of one of one my boas. This time with a nice, lizard friendly F/T rat. :D Really nice way to show the lacking of pattern on his sides. To cool.

Great photos everybody! I love that first one especially, Linds!
Awesome photos... I plan on adding some of my own tomorrow...
As for the issue of what to feed... I think that animals deserve their natural prey... and if they prefer it to commercially available mice and rats, why not? Great thread, guys! =)

Exactly. By forcing them to conform to a different diet, they can suffer from many types of disease, ultimately leading to an untimely death. I personally prefer the convenience of feeding rodents, so for now, all my snakes will only be of the kind that can do well on a rodent diet.

daver676,
Typical of STP, he has an excellent feeding reflex and there was rodent in the air...:flick: He full constricted, and by the time the camera got to me he was already releasing and attempting to swallow the bag
