I am currently purchasing a female ghost corn and i plan to breed it with my male normal corn he produces amels and normals when i breed him with my amel female so that means his parents where amel right? so what types of offspring do you think he and the female ghost make?
So your normal male produces normal and amels when bred to an amel.
That means the normal is het amel.
It also indicates that the normal's parents could be a normal and amel or some other combination~ but at least we know that its het for amel
Now assuming that your normal male is het for amel only and the ghost that you're gettign is het for nothing.
Then by breeding a ghost to a normal het amel, you'll get 100% normal het hypo, anery a and possible het amel~
hope this helped!
So all i'lll get is normal critters? damm so what kinda male should i get to breed with my ghost to make ghost? and wouldn't the ghost be het anery hypomelanistic cause thats what they are made from so would i need to buy a male that is het hypo or anery to produce ghost with my female?

Thats the thing with recessive genes like the hypo and anery in your ghost - breeding to normal only gives you normals in the first generation.
Your ghost is actually homozygous for anery and hypo, not het (carrier) for those because it shows both anery and hypo.
If you bred your first generation offspring from the normal by ghost back to your ghost, then you have a chance to produce ghost.
If you want to avoid inbreeding, then your best bet would be to get a normal male that is known to be het for hypo and anery. Then breeding to your ghost will give you normals, hypos, anerys and ghosts.
Other options are to use a male that is hypo het anery or anery het hypo, but these are hard to find. Being sure that anything you buy is het for specific genes depends a lot on trust you have in the breeder.
If you want some more interesting options you might consider looking for a coral snow male (they are homozygous for anery, amel and hypo) and breeding that to your ghost will produce all ghosts that are het for amel. Breeding those in the future can give you more coral snows in addition to ghosts.
good luck with the decision,

Thanks vanderkm and simon, see i wanted to avoid having to buy babies or when i breed keeping them cause i dont want to wait a year or three for them to grow up, i am going to look around and try to get somthing that is het to make a nice pair with my ghost, dont get me wrong i like producing normals and amels but i wanna make a change find somthing unusual in my litter, thanks for the reply's i now understand the whole genes thing
