Hogs are here!

[Vanan]

Finally after a long wait (4yrs), here's another species I've been dying to produce. Not a spectacular species but if it ever came to the point where I had to choose a single species to work with, it would be these. Don't have too many as the female had her first clutch ever and 3 eggs didn't make it. One was DIE and 4 have hatched. Not a huge number but when you're keeping em all, it ain't so bad! Mwahahahaha!!!

Out hatches SATAN SPAWN!!

It amazes me how fast these guys are ready to shed. "Satan spawn" there went from blue in the morning to clear in the evening. Took em only 2 days post hatch to start shedding. No wonder Roy gets his babies pigging out 3 days after hatching! Totally amazes me!

Here a couple of post shed pics. Nothing outrageous or vaguely red, but should be interesting to see what they grow into as the parents are a blonde phase and a light phase.

For size comparison. Seem like bigger babies than some I've seen. Small clutch size may be a reason why they're bigger.

Satan Spawn is REALLY cute. That pic should be called "The Emergence"!

I've been so caught up with my own clutches, that I have neglected Vanan's babies, but today I did spend some time looking over the hoggies.

The li'l noses kill me. Just KILL ME.

I'm not a big hoggie fan, they don't do much for me, but the fact that these are Vanan's first, esecially after last years single egg that went full term and died, has a lot of meaning to me b/c it means so much to Vanan. I really hope I get a baby! I have one picked out already!

OMG, they are just the cutest things ever!! Now I can't wait till Sunday to get my first hog from Danielle a.k.a. Dani33. :) I can't believe how much I'm getting into snakes considering hubby is so terrified. lol. I'll be up to 8 by Sunday! Of course hubby tries to avoid the basement like a plague. lol.

Congrats! Great looking little critters. Good luck with them, hope they all feed on the first try! I love mine. They are just too funny not to enjoy them. Hopefully I'll get a similar experience from my pair one of these days.
