Can someone explain Ultras to me? When I use to breed Corns I don't think they existed. Can I have some pics too please? I have heard about Ultry Hypo's and Ultra Caramel's. What are these? What about Lava Lavenders? Thanks in advance.
Ultra is a new type of hypo that we have just found out this year.
We have bred the Ultra with th 'normal hypo a' , sunkissed hypo, lava hypo. The results? Well most of them came out normal. Now the reason why I say most is because there have been some weird stuff coming from the Ultra line.
That is we are 'thinking' that the Ultra Hypo is actually a co-dominant or dominant gene in corn snakes. But the question is, if these are actually co-dominant, why didn't we see these sooner? Why are they only showing up now? No idea why...
Now Ultra Hypos are the same as Ultra...just that we're too lazy to type in the Hypo.
As for the Ultra Caramel, its like amber, where its hypo a + caramel. With the Ultra Caramel (now starting to be referred as Golddust) it is the hypo type D gene combined together with the caramel gene in teh same snake. So if you look at hypo as being all hypo type a, b, c, d then you can all those Ultra Caramels as ambers too~ LOL!!
Now Lava Lavenders are almost the same.
Just that the Lava Lavenders are Type C hypo with the Lavender Genes.
So here is the basic break down of the hypo genes itself:
Hypo A = Normal regular hypo we see
Hypo B = Sunkissed Hypo, first found in Kathy Love's stock with the Okeetees
Hypo C = Lava Hypo, found in Joe Pierce Stock
Hypo D = Ultra Hypo, found in Mike Shivers (sp) stock
Now there are also other hypos that haven't been proven out yet.
a) Christmas Hypo b) Strawberry Hypo c) Dream Hypo d) Transluscent Hypo e) Cotton Candy Hypo....
Remember those 5 listed just about this sentense are all unproven. But by looks, they all look very different plus they have dark black eyes...so we're quite sure they're not amel genes...but some of them do look like amels with black eyes.....
LOL!!!
Hope this makes any sense at all~
