Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen half a dozon of them all summer.

Every single one of them fly south to Mexico to a very small locale, and unfortunately millions of them froze to death a couple years ago in a rare freezing spell in the trees they stay in after the long journey.
They are struggling to make a comeback and it will be years before their numbers increase.
They feed only on milkweed

wow really, i never knew that, i only saw one this summer but last summer i saw about a dozen

I remember seeing them everywhere when I was younger. I hope they make a comeback. I also remember seeing a lot more grasshoppers.
